No. I left FB because they insisted on some form of identification, just because I was making political posts.

You want to monitor your kids? Then do it yourself. That's not governments place to do.
I must agree @DeWayfarer

@jackjjackson It's likely one of the few things that we can agree about.
One never knows. @DeWayfarer
No. Anonymous websites have their place. There are other social media sites like Nextdoor that require real names, if you want that, go there.
@mysteryespresso Right. You have to use your real name and real neighborhood, and you can't block anyone. So the level of civility is higher. The tenor of discussion is a lot more mild as a result. In my neighborhood, the posts consist of:

Requests for assistance, financial or otherwise
Offers of services or requests for employment
Questions on why there are cops at a particular location
Warnings of traffic accidents blocking certain streets
Questions on what the plan is for particular abandoned buildings, or what's going in on a specific construction site
Recommendations of local businesses or requests for recommended businesses for various needs
Complaints about porch pirates, inconsiderate kids, people letting their pets run loose, etc.
Complaints about local politicians, the power company, cable and internet providers, etc.
Expressions of concern for various local homeless people and local "characters"
Nostalgia for the past or generalized complaints about what the world is coming to

How would you do that?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer Wow. I was making the bar when I was 17. Legal age had just dropped from 21 to 18. I was never asked for ID. I don't have to worry about that anymore. The one bottle of wine I get a year is a gift from a friend. I have two of them in my cupboard at the moment.

@hippyjoe1955 when I was in the military I just presented my military ID. There's a waiver for all military people in every state.

@DeWayfarer Yeah we had the same in Canada. If you were in uniform no questions were ever asked.
