How can we increase the chances of passing gun control legislation when Democrats and Republicans are at odds?

For young people feeling 'politically homeless' in the current UK landscape, what is the most constructive way for them to engage with politics and push for meaningful change?

We have gun control legislation, truly not the issue.

Fix the gaps due to HIPPA preventing meaningful mental health issues from showing up in background checks when criminal events are not involved. Address the lack of mental health treatment / incarceration options vs leaving known threats roaming the streets.

Force Blue city prosecutors to actually prosecute criminals regarding the existing gun and other laws that are not being enforced.

There are too many people w mental health issues and general criminals out there with 10+ charges on their rap sheet being let off w no bail or minimal bail and still posing a threat to the rest of us.

More "gun laws" will not make ANY progress without those situations being fixed.
