Why do some people think unpredictability in a leader like Trump could make the U.S. more respected or feared internationally?

Because we've been ruled by the same uniparty for 30 plus years and are tired of the same.

Don't know about respected, but I'd guess the concept of a senile, egomaniacal racist neo-fascist with access to the US military might cause some trepidation around the world.
