Why do enlightened people seem so approachable and make you want to share personal things with them?

What’s a phrase for when you forget to do something one time, and then purposefully stop doing it? For example, you exercise every day for a month. Then one day you forget to exercise, so after that you just decide to stop exercising altogether.
Should the European Parliament expel far-right and nationalist MEPs from France, Italy, Spain, and Germany who vocally supported Viktor Orbán in the debate on Pride marches in Hungary?
Why is the ego so sure of its answer — even if it just made it up to feel better? And why is this trick so hard to see?
