What kind of people in the US wouldn't you keep if you are given that authority?

One of my guy friends, who I thought was into me (texting constantly, asking me to attend events with him, cuddling…), has suddenly started acting very distant. When I ask him what's going on with him, he seems clueless. What else should I do?
