Has anything stopped you from imagining the unimaginable?

I'm freaked out about the fact that I'm living in a predatory world where people exploit others for personal gain and nobody will stop them. What should I do about this and should I allow myself to be scared forever?
I am in my 60+ age bracket and my online friend from Argentina would like to visit me after a month of communicating each for about a month. What are your tips?
Will practicing a language with someone still help me improve if I make mistakes and don’t correct them later?
