@MarkPaul. You’re missing the point. Obviously if you eat smaller and/or fewer portions you’re going to consume less calories. My point was how companies will try to deceive consumers by advertising their product as “only 100 calories!” but when you look closer on the nutrition facts you’ll see that what they consider a portion is an uneven fraction of the product, when they know that the vast majority of people are going to just eat the whole thing. It could literally be a single 290 calorie sweet, but they’ll put on the front of the box “100 calories!”, which gets people to think wow, this sweet is only 100 calories! But then when you look closer you see that actually, only 34.5% of that sweet is 100 calories. And who the fuck is going to eat only slightly more than 1/3 of a single treat, in a single package. The only rhyme or reason to the portion sizing for these companies is “how can we make it look like it’s only 100 calories when it’s actually almost 3x that?” It really renders whatever the front of the package says meaningless when they can consider whatever the hell amount they want to be a single portion. But of course there will always be people who don’t bother to read the nutrition facts that closely, hence the practice.

@Zeuro There's a lot to unpack here mostly around the lack of self-discipline to...

1. Read the label and understand what it means.
2. Control your own eating habits without taking on a victim role and expecting companies to manage your eating habits.
3. Own your own health.

You claim people aren't going to consume 1/3 of a treat. Well, those same people are not going to eat something that isn't preloaded with sugar, sodium, and fat.

Take accountability for your own behaviour. Do better.
