First impressions

Have you ever ran across someone (especially but not limited to) here that made you think 'what an asshole' but you ended up genuinely liking the person?
And does that mean I'm open minded and accepting or does it mean I'm an asshole too, you know with the whole birds of a feather thing?...

That happened to me on another social site. For the first couple of years I loathed the guy's sarcastic idea of humor..
Later, I discovered he was kind to many, tolerant to those he disagreed with, and intelligent.

@hartfire that's why I like to check people out before I make a final decision that I do not like them, because you never know what a person is going thru or has been thru that causes them to have a hard shell... I've made some good friends with the ones I started out strongly disliking..
