Do you think people subconsciously mess up things in their life as they are accustomed to failure and fear success?

Just a thought...why do you think this happens?

Some do. Yes. They do not want to get out of their comfort zone, and fear change. Fear itself holds them back. Good question!

Thank you. It's weird how failure could be a comfort zone and yet it's also understandable if you look at those who are creatures of habit.
@OWise1: Exactly! They stay stuck because sometimes depression freezes their thoughts and they feel immobilized. Given their low self-esteem and low confidence, they become "comfortable" with the familiar. They don't [i]want[/i] to fail, but the depression gets the best of them to where they cannot see anything else, nor can they focus on better alternatives.
