How can a person be emotionally attached and care deeply about someone without wanting a serious commitment?

Ever had a serious dispute for decades with either a parent or sibling?

I don't expect many will ever want to see me again. Yet it doesn't mean that I would or wouldn't expect them or their kids back.

I have yet to have heard from any of my siblings since 2006. One has already passed away. The others didn't care to notify me.

They know where I am.
