What do you know about all (or some of) the 50 states without Googling anything?

So, I don't know how many of you know this, but I'm from Iceland and have lived in the U.S. for a large chunk of my life. I feel, however, that no matter how long I've lived here, I still don't know anything about the damn country I live in. So, here's what I know.

1. Alabama is the state that that one song "Sweet Home Alabama" (I hate that song) was written about. Full of country folk.
2. Alaska is very cold and reminds me of zombies because I watched "Thirty Days of Night".
3. Arizona is just very dry and filled with sand, I think.
4. Arkansas... there is nothing in Arkansas.
5. California is where all of the celebrities live/are from.
6. Colorado... weed and mountains.
7. Connecticut is where the one house from The Haunting in Connecticut is from. I get a vibe from Connecticut that a lot of people who live there are serious and boring.
8. Delaware reminds me of my grandma because it's old and small.
9. Florida is where Robert the Doll is from and a lot of old people live there.
10. Georgia is where peaches grow. Just what I've heard.
11. Hawaii is the most predictable vacation place of choice for about 99% of people who live in America.
12. Idaho, I've heard, is where the potatoes are from. Aside from the potatoes, there is nothing in Idaho.
13. Illinois... the home of Chicago.
14. Indiana... there is nothing in Indiana.
15. Iowa... there's also nothing in Iowa except for people who hate their lives because they live in Iowa.
16. Kansas is the place they mention in The Wizard of Oz.
17. Kentucky is most likely where the chain KFC is from. After all, the "K" does stand for Kentucky.
18. Louisiana... all I can think of when I think of Louisiana is Hurricane Katrina and gumbo.
19. Maine is where I live.
20. I know nothing about Maryland.
21. Massachusetts makes me think about witches and Hocus Pocus.
22. The only thing I know about Michigan is that Detroit is in Michigan.
23. Minnesota is where that annoying accent comes from. I will not apologize for saying that. Everyone already thinks so.
24. All I can think of when I think of Mississippi is mud.
25. Missouri. There is nothing in Missouri.
26. Montana is where all the beautiful mountains are.
27. Nebraska... doesn't ring a bell.
28. Nevada is where Las Vegas is... that's all I know.
29. New Hampshire is in New England. That's all I know.
30. New Jersey is the home of orange guidos.
31. New Mexico... no one wants to go here, and if they do, they probably are into really arid, dry places.
32. New York is where everyone flocks to when they want to be an actor, and nine times out of ten, they fail miserably.

I stopped because I got bored. That's what I have so far.
I gave it my best shot (I'm an immigrant as well)...

1. Alabama sounds like it had some severe racism issues or something.
2. Alaska is cold.
3. Arizona has a canned tea named after it.
4. Arkansas is not pronounced like "Kansas".
5. California has a bear on its flag.
6. Colorado has a big C on its flag.
7. Connecticut is part of the contiguous United States.
8. Delaware had something to do with the American Revolutionary war or something.
9. Florida has gators.
10. Georgia is a state, and also a country.
11. Hawaii has Pearl Harbor.
12. Idaho...potatoes.
13. Illinois is the best state ever, and Chicago hosted the World Fair.
14. Indiana is a hellhole, and they also have Purdue University there.
15. Iowa is flat.
16. Kansas is where Dorothy was swept up by a tornado.
17. Kentucky has fried chicken.
18. Louisiana is a word Popeyes uses in its commercials a lot.
19. Maine is part of New England.
20. Maryland has people living in it.
21. Massachusetts is difficult to spell.
22. Michigan is called "Pure Michigan" in their annoying tourism videos.
23. Minnesota's people have weird accents.
24. Mississippi has a river named after it, or it's named after that river.
25. Missouri has the St. Louis arch.
26. Montana has mountains.
27. Nebraska probably has a low population.
28. Nevada is shaped like a square, I think. (I looked it up, and it's not.)
29. New Hampshire is on the Eastern part of the United States, right?
30. New Jersey is trashy and has the Jersey Shore.
31. New Mexico is not a part of Mexico.
32. New York is a state, but there's also a city called New York.
33. North Carolina is above South Carolina.
34. North Dakota is above South Dakota.
35. Ohio has a university called Ohio State.
36. Oklahoma has roads.
37. Oregon used to have a trail leading up to it called the Oregon Trail.
38. Pennsylvania has a university called Penn State, and another one called UPenn.
39. Rhode Island is in fact an island. (I just looked it up, and no it's not.)
40. South Carolina is below North Carolina.
41. South Dakota is below North Dakota.
42. Tennessee has a lot of country singers.
43. Texas is large, and Texans are patriotic.
44. Utah is the one shaped like a square, right?
45. Vermont is a state I mix up with Nevada for some reason. It sounds Canadian.
46. Virginia that was one of the first states, right?
47. Washington is named after George Washington, I presume.
48. West Virginia is West of regular Virginia.
49. Wisconsin has cheese and the Green Bay Packers.
50. Wyoming is basically a giant national park, isn't it?

I live in Indiana.
I can confirm that there's nothing.

Nothing personal but you live in a pretty weird state.
SW-User
@Ynotisay: I always tell people it's the Florida of the north.
Ynotisay · M
@Macabre: HA. Without the beaches and Jews of course.
Ynotisay · M

You probably know more than most Americans.
Jack4054 · M
You certainly have a lot to say.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
Why would you... its basically 50 different countries. Call them States if you will, but its just a different name. You dont have anything to do with the states beyond yours.
Syktur · 26-30, M
What's your point?
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@svanthor: my point is made clear in what i wrote
Syktur · 26-30, M
@MartinTheFirst: Most people I know can name at least one fact about each state. By the way, you're a smartass.
