Keep fingernails long or cut them short?

I keep mine short now but I used to grow them long and file them to points.

My fingernails are always grown out very long.I keep my nails between 1.5 and 2 inches long.I got lucky that my nails are thick, strong and very healthy.

Short is best for me. I like gardening and cooking and find long nails a hindrance.

Short - they grow fast and always get caught on things, like guitar strings...
