They say there is someone for everyone. Then why are people afraid to be who they truly are?

People make no sense. In order to find the one that 'gets you,' shouldn't the true you be revealed?

We should always reveal our true selves. People these days are too afraid of what other people will think of them. Our inability to communicate with each other not only verbally, but emotionally, will always keep us in the dark socially, and prevent emotional and intellectual growth. It's one of the saddest truths a person can learn. I really like the song "The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel. It describes today's society perfectly.

Very wise thoughts from an old soul. :) Kudos!

People just say that to make others feel better mostly.
OWise1 · F
Hmmm not so sure about that. Thank you though for your reply.

No because people shame you and shun you for being who you are. People learn that before theyre old enough to remember why they started doing that.

@OWise1: yeah that's true still doesnt feel too good to be shamed for who you are so people are pretty quick to avoid it.
OWise1 · F
@mic11225: Also, people are so jealous of others. It's sad the society in which we live where people don't want to be happy for others.

I can understand it. Especially if the people who hurt you are the ones who get to be happy. It is still unfortunate though

The "be yourself" crap is bullshit tbh because if you actually be yourself, you'll probably be called weird and get alienated from everyone.

That's correct, but I think it's more important to think about the present than the future.
OWise1 · F
@QueenOfQuirk: For now it may be as it's a matter of self-preservation, but one must always look towards the future.

I don't think you get the point of my comment..

Good thinking, but then there's a thing called best behaviour.
OWise1 · F
True, but can't a person behave well and yet not try to be so perfect? Eventually, everything comes out in the wash, including the true you. So, isn't it best to be true to yourself and others?
LoveChild · 26-30, F
Yes, oh wise one.
Sounds reasonable to me.
OWise1 · F
Thank you🙂I thought so too lol
