It's among my numerous now-useless accomplishments. Not only cows, but an ill-tempered goat who would not allow her twin babies to nurse.
The goat was much smaller and much much more challenging. To avoid being mauled, I had to rope her whole body to a tree like I was preparing to burn her at the stake.
Like so many things, milking a cow is easier when done as persuasion rather than demand.

@Mamapolo2016 it's easier with a chute. And goats are easier when dehorned or polled

@pride49 I'm sure you're right. But we were a one-pet-goat operation. No chutes, no polling, just two hungry babies. And trees.
