Are groceries getting any cheaper in your area?

I’ve heard on several different news sites that groceries are going down anywhere from 22% to 48% in many areas of the country. Living by myself, I don’t buy a lot of groceries opting to eat light most days. Anyway, most of what I do buy, does NOT seem to be getting cheaper. So, have you noticed much of a difference in grocery prices recently?

Very possibly. There's an old saying about a box of cornflakes only has 5 cents worth of corn in it. What we pay for food isn't really the food but everything else that makes us want it and makes it available. So there's a lot of "middle-man" cost in most foods that we buy. The biggest middle-man is probably the IRS. One thing all the other middle-men have in common is that they all have to pay taxes o the money they earn producing, transporting, marketing, and putting the food you buy on their shelves. 15% just for payroll taxes, plus income tax, plus FICA/FUTA tax.

Not really, but I do find some good deals recently on meat and other prepared dishes from the deli, etc, at or past their sell by date, and I have a good eye for those kind of deals. Certain items, I get at the dollar store as well, to save money. Over all, prices are still up on most common place items, by about 7-8 %
Gas prices are back over $4 a gallon nationally. Nothing is going to get cheaper without gas prices dropping first.

Depends on the day of the week and what you buy. That's how it seems here.
Eggs are still expensive, even at Aldi.
Surprisingly, milk and butter were cheaper, but only at Aldi.

@SW-User have to shop at several places and get the best prices for certain items at each one

@cherokeepatti I usually go to Aldi for milk. Most other things, I don't see much of a difference.
I don't buy much meat since my nephew had a cow and pig butchered. I'm good for a while and hope he does so soon again. I buy it and stock my freezer.
I think WalMart is cheapest for eggs when you buy five dozen at a time... prepacked in a box.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User Winco has 5 dozen medium eggs for $8.50 last time I looked. Walmart has 5 dozen large eggs for almost $11. There’s a local grocery chain that has 5 dozen large eggs for nearly $18. Have to shop around. I buy milk from Braum’s, tastes better and healthier, they have their own dairy. The boy can go through 5 gallons a month.
