You don't have to agree for something to be a fact.
SW-User
@Kuronekko: Just because one believes something to be true, that does not make it a fact.
sawball05 · 31-35, M
fact???? coz you say it's a fact??? :D jajajajaja proof????
SW-User
@Lakesidepoet: Yeah.. Except history lol

There are plenty of wars past and present caused by and or made worse by both religions.. Or have you guys been living in a cave?

@Kuronekko: I will agree that there have been things done "in the name of" both religions that have been harmful to others. However, if one looks at the basic tenets of both religions, they are vastly different at their core. I think a true perusal of history shows that one of them has had a much more positive effect than the other.

@Lakesidepoet: oh yeah? Which one?

@bearinthebigbluehouse: you know me bear, you know me 😘

you atheist kuro mam???? :P
SW-User
@Kuronekko: That's a question for each to answer on their own, after looking at the facts.
SW-User
@Lakesidepoet: I can see how detrimental they both are and have been. I was just asking your opinion.
SW-User
@Kuronekko: My opinion will do nothing to change yours. Each person needs to examine the different faiths for themselves. EVERY religion has done damage because imperfect people are practicing them. However, lack of faith can be equally detrimental. It is up for each to decide whom they will choose to serve....the god of self, the god of religion, or the God of the Bible.

@Lakesidepoet: lol do you think I'm a moron who only looks at one side of everything? The reason I'm an atheist is because I know about more than one religion, I know about history and current affairs.. I listen and make up my mind based on fact. Just because one religion might be marginally less destructive at one point in time than another is not enough for me to say it's ok. Christians murdered people throughout history, Islam does the same. I don't see organised religion as beneficial to the world at all. If you want to believe something then by all means believe it, just keep it out of everyone else's lives. You see, religion is a lot like a fetish, people have them but they are personal preferences and should be kept that way.

@Lakesidepoet: well said 😊
SW-User
@Kuronekko: I never disrespected you our insinuated that you hadn't examined more than one side. You asked for my opinion and I gave it. Lack of religion is also a faith and a personal preference, so I could say the same to you. That's where we're different. I enjoy learning about others, why they believe as they do, and discussing it. You are free to have your opinion, but if you ask for mine, I'm going to share it.
SW-User
@Lakesidepoet: faith is believing in something blindly. If there is a higher power then no human can tell you what it does or does not want or think about or for us. That is what I have a problem with. Until I hear it from the horses mouth I'll be atheist. Like it or not, everything you believe has come from another human.
SW-User
@Kuronekko: Yes, that's exactly what faith is. However, it doesn't mean there is not also evidence of what is invisible. For instance....gravity, oxygen, etc are things we cannot see, yet we have faith that they exist because there is evidence of its existence. Your choice to not believe is just as valid as mine is to believe....they are both an act of faith. Thanks for chatting. :-)
