Why are there so many men that stubbornly refuse to go to therapy, even though it could help them a great deal?
Why wouldn't you go to therapy?
My partner isn't big on the idea of therapy, I ask him why and he just says "we don't need it, we know our problems better than anyone" and generally thinks therapy is pointless.
I also see people here say all the time "therapy isn't for everyone" ..
I'm wondering for those who don't want to go or don't believe in it, what's the reason?
To me I can't see how it cant hurt? It has to help ... understanding why we do things, learning new ways of thinking and getting tools to manage negative behaviour etc .from people who spend years studying that very thing?..why wouldn't that be good? It seems apparent to me that anyone who doesn't believe in it enough to try is small minded and/or afraid to be vulnerable. But I'm curious if anyone can change my mind about that. Why do people refuse to get help, even though they are aware of their mental illness?
Why would somebody who’s aware of their mental illness (depression, OCD spectrum disorder) refuse to work on themselves and seek and accept external help and instead be convinced that they are never going to get better? Do you know someone who had a similar mentality and what made them reach a breaking point and start working on themselves?
