How safe do you feel when you walk around in your neighborhood?

How safe do you feel in your neighborhood after dark? Until when would you allow a 12-year-old for example to stay outside the house?
I heard about people that don't let their kids play even in their front yard and it's not even dark outside. Do you feel safe walking alone in your neighborhood at night? Would you feel safe walking around your neighborhood at night?
Just had this thought. I'm in W. Colfax and it's a strong no, unfortunately. Got me thinking, is it a "yes" for anyone in Denver these days? How often do you feel scared and what neighborhood do you live in?

It’s not too bad in this neighborhood now, who knows about the future. I have gone out walking after dark at like 10-11 p.m. because it was too hot to walk during the daytime. Didn’t see anything scary or out of the ordinary. If I had small children I wouldn’t let them out after dark. I don’t think there’s any place safe enough to say that would be off-limits to a predator pedophile. They will go where the children are outside and not accompanied by an adult and snatch them. They’ll even try to lure them outside of businesses in broad daylight or try to lead them away by the hand when their mothers are looking at yard sale items.
