Are you way too blunt with people?
Is being blunt a bad thing? It's not what you say but how you say it. I think people know they can always come to me for an honest opinion but recently I feel like deep down, people see it as a negative trait. I'm never rude or mean, I just won't lie if you ask me a question. I'm the person who will tell you what you don't want to hear. Flattering people and "beating around the bush" doesn't help anyone. What do you think? Thoughts on people who are blunt and don't sugarcoat things? I am blunt and very straightforward. Sometimes people don't appreciate this
Anyone else relate? I find it gets me in trouble at work sometimes because some people can be very sensitive and think I'm being rude. I've never been able to hone a sugary sweet or fake communication style. In other words I cannot for the life of me suck up. Its like there is a force that holds me back even when a little suck up might move me forward. I cannot "play the game". The idea of it makes me hurl. Anybody like me out there? What's wrong with being blunt and honest?
So I will admit, as somone who has the social grace of a drunk 300 lbs gorilla, I am often frustrated with the ins and out of dating. So, doing this whole "Gotta lay my mad skillz on the ladies" doesn't work for me. I have no game, I have no "mad skillz" and like I said, I have the social grace of a drunk 300 lbs gorilla.
So, what's wrong with being blunt and openly honest from the get-go? No bullshit, no mind games, no doing this whole "chase" thing. I just come out and say what I want, what I'm looking for and here are my strengths and here are my weaknesses. Why can't dating and relationship just be more like that? When someone says they're very blunt/have no filter/straightforward, it's just an excuse for them to be rude in a social setting
I hear this all the time where someone says something very disrespectful then continue with oh yeah people say I'm very blunt hahaha. Honestly people like this should be called out cause they're just shitty people. Just because you pride yourself on being brutally honest doesn't mean you're not rude and a giant prick. So I just have two good friends my whole life. Never been with a group of friends because I hate dealing with a certain person in the group that I cant get a long with. I live my life with my family. I'm too straight forward. Blunt and sarcastic. Sometimes I hate it but I cant stop being like that. I'm very talkative if you'll get to know me. Wacky and love making jokes and pranks. Any one can help me with my social skills? And I have adhd to make it worse. What is the most blunt thing a person you just met ever said to you that greatly hurt your feelings? Why are honest and blunt people disliked? Being blunt is saying it as it is, by not being blunt you can possibly say your message in a nice way, for example: How do you think i look? Blunt person: Bad ll A non-Blunt person: I don't think you look the best or I don't think it works. Obviously, my example isn't foolproof since i made it in a matter of seconds but the main point stays if someone is a blunt person i think they're automatically a rude person who can't spend time to say what they mean but in a nice way. Don't get me wrong, if someone is occasionally blunt, this doesn't apply to them but if they are 100% blunt. What's the point of insulting someone just because you're being "honest"? They're a nightmare to work with because you feel like you're stepping on eggshells just so that you don't piss them off and get inundated with insults. When someone describes themselves as "blunt" I assume they just mean asshole who lacks interpersonal skills.
