Why Does God Need Money?

I've just received another begging circular from the local christians scrounging donations to repair their clubhouse (church) - which they like to call "God's House". Their god is said to have created the entire universe and everything in it, out of nothing, in just 6 days. Why can't it do a few simple home repairs itself?

If the preacher makes a 6+ figure salary they don't need my money

@MarineBob Not very likely. I think @Lynda70 is in the UK so it is most likely an Anglican church that is asking for a contribution. While the vicar probably has moderately comfortable quarters he or she is most unlikely to be raking it in.

@MarineBob He doesn’t and the money is for church buildings, good works and so forth.

@ninalanyon You're right, I am in the UK. The individual "foot soldiers" aren't exactly raking it in but the bishops and above have pretty lavish lifestyles. The church isn't short of a a few quid.

@MartinII
the money is for church buildings, good works and so forth.
As I pointed out in my OP. If this god thing could put an entire universe together in just six day, it ougth to be able to carry out a few simple building repairs itself. It ought to be able to manage a few "good works" too. The church shouldn't need Atheists money, it already has more than enough of its own.

@Lynda70 It’s up to you. If you don’t want to give them money, don’t. But I have just visited Peterborough cathedral, for the first time, and made a donation for the upkeep of that wonderful building. And I am an atheist too.
