Do u think its ok to have a "Black" girl playing the Little Mermaid ? 🐠 🐟

Her name is Halle Bailey, sister of Chloe Bailey from the tv show Grownish. Now I'm gonna be honest with you people here. As a person of color, I felt like she should have turned this role down. Why ? Because The Little Mermaid just so happens to be, White. Just like Black Lightning, is actually Black. He is a comic book character. But anyway, this is just a good example of politics. That ugly evil thing that is used to divide and conquer people. What do you think ?
Should there be a Black girl playing the Little Mermaid. They could have just made an original version of a mermaid film so that is wouldn't cause so much friction for certain people. Right. You tell me. I'm listening.
Best answer wins. ☺️ 🐟

I don't think it really matters to children whether the characters are of persons of color or not. Seems the children act more like adults than adults do.
It's the adults that have a problem. Red, yellow, black, brown, white, green, purple, doesn't, (or shouldn't,) matter. We are all part of the human race and should be able to accept and respect each other and our differences.

@IM5688 it does matter to children, especially when they are not white and they never see people like them on tv.

@BabyLonia Then change the channel. There is still more white programming than black programming. By the way, we were talking about an animated cartoon movie, not tv programs in general.

@IM5688 i think you misunderstand me - i am all for a black ariel, i am happy for children who are not white to finally get some representation.

I just disagreed with you saying it does not make a difference to kids because it really does when they see people like them being main characters

@BabyLonia Diversity is part of life. If it matters to children that a character is not like they are, then those children should be taught that not everyone is alike and they should learn to accept others as they are no matter what the color. They need to learn that not all princesses are like Snow White. What about Jasmine? She technically is not white either. Does that also matter to the kids? And what of the other human characters that are sometimes colored purple, etc. Do they have a problem with that also?
