Are you typically the heartbreaker or the heartbroken and why?

In relationships, why are you more often the “heartbreaker” or the “heart broken”? Which is the better option: being a heartbreaker or being heartbroken? Do you prefer to be the heartbreaker or heartbroken? How bad does it feel on each side? How does it feel when someone falls out of love with you? Would you rather be the heartbreaker or get your heart broken? How do you protect your heart from being broken? How do you get over and leave someone that doesn't deserve you? Does it hurt for the heartbreaker? Or is it only the heartbroken that feels this way?
Throughout the relationship and even more so towards the end I knew that I cared far more about him than he could come close to. He was always unsure of if he could develop stronger feelings for me and he articulated this clearly to me until the last month when he simply just stopped liking me all together as he later admitted. But despite all this I can't help but wonder and maybe even hope that some part of him missed me even just a little bit for a little while because there was a time when he cared about me. It just didn't last nearly as long as how long I've cared about him. Do you believe in karma when someone break your heart? When a narcissist breaks your heart, can karma keep him alone? What are the instances that karma hit your ex? Will karma catch up with my cheating ex boyfriend? What’s the best karma your ex got that had nothing to do with you? Will karma work on your ex who dumped you? Will he get his karma for hurting me so bad while all I did was love him unconditionally? What is the reason that karma has yet not caught up with my ex-boyfriend who used me for sex for 3-years and dumped me and he is still leading a happy life without me by his side? If there's Karma and if it does exist quite indeed, then why do people who cheat in a relationship not get affected by it? Does karma really exist when it comes to romantic relations? My ex-boyfriend treated me badly. Will he get his karma and beg for my attention again?
I don't indulge in such sob stories. Either you are in or not. No midway.

A bit of both and not fully aware at the time. Mea culpa - don't remember the Latin for stupidity. In Irish it's iomadain.
