What have you done to make your life better?

For enough of my life I have looked at myself as a consequence of the decisions of others. Over the last two years, about the time of this sub's inception, I have been at work on myself. I have read philosophy, read scripture, read self development literature, watched movies, studied body language, cold approached, push the boundaries of my fear, left jobs, landed jobs, made friends, cut out friends, lost friends, and so forth. Despite making so much progress, my opening sentence has remained deep in my psyche a catalyst of sorts. From today forward, as much as is possible and as I can remember to be, I will be a consequence of myself.
For way too long have I let the world around me dictate my emotional state. I will remind myself to put new ideas into practice with an outcome independent mindset.
For too long I have been inwardly focused and carried by others. I will find ways to carry my own weight and then some.
For too long I have reflected on the inefficiencies of my youth with contempt. I will use those memories to propel my forward trajectory.
A little Thursday evening motivation. Hope you honey badgers are keeping it real honey badger style. Next time you get that funny feeling in your stomach that tells you to be scared shitless, but you know there is no real danger.. nike that shit. What realization did you make that made your life better? Has anything you've done made your life any better?
Was watching American History X again the other night and came across this scene:So I pose this question to you gents. Having just hit 31, I have my shit together but it doesn't mean it can't get better.
Dogs. I know not everyone is a dog person but after some reflection, I can say my life is genuinely better with them in it.
Minimizing social media. In my 20's I used to love the idea of Facebook, reconnecting with people, seeing what people are up to, etc. Nowadays I've cut my list of friends from ~2000 to ~100 because I stopped caring about what others were doing and refocused on myself.
Living below your means. I don't feel the need to impress anyone anymore so living a simple life with minimal stress is what I've found happiness doing. Went from Armani suits to whatever is on sale at Costco :)
Playing more video games. Because they're fun :D
Investing in health. Eating better, being more active etc. Recently, was helping my brother in law move and I hurt my lower back so the last month has REALLY sucked. This has given me a glimpse into what life would be like with chronic pain and it's not enjoyable. I know this only happened because I got lazy with the gym and let my body get prone to injury.
Scotch and whiskey. Wasn't a big drinker before but exploring all the different nuances in these beverages is quite fun (and unfortunately can get expensive).
Would love to hear more about you guys and what you've found to help life be more enjoyable. What changes did you make that drastically improved your life? What do you do/have you done that has significantly made your life better, happier, less stressful, or any combination of the above? What improved your quality of life so much, you wished you did it sooner? What could have you done better in your life? What's the simplest way you improved your quality of life that you think other people could use too? Have you ever started over in life? How did you do it and why? What's the absolute best thing you've ever done for yourself that has made your life easy? Which skills have you mastered that improved your life? Currently I'm learning shorthand and memorizing stuff. So which are your skills and why do/did you learn them? What change did you make that improved your life? What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner?

For me, it's realizing what I need to work on. I started to listen to criticisms about myself and try to make positive changes. Back then, I would just shut off when someone say something about me that I don't like.

Nothing except being grateful to my invisible Angels.
