And if they are not actually leaving they are contemplating on it. I am here to stay. I am not the type to allow the stupidity and dysfunction of others to affect my peace of mind. With that being said, I admit even I get somewhat annoyed at the trolls here who like to play their idiotic little games. But what would this site be without them right. Anyway, why do you believe so many people are leaving SW this year. Some have not been here for a while, but they do log in and log out. Funny, I know. But why is this happening ? Do you know ? Is it boredom ? Is it fear ? Is it the pain they feel towards or about someone here on the site. Is it because they are just simply fed up with the bs. Or maybe they have just outgrown this old town. You tell me. Best answer will win. 🙂
I’m tired of the hatefulness, the lack of respect for differing thoughts and beliefs. It’s become difficult to filter through all the ugly posts to find the kindness. And I struggle with wanting to share anymore.
I do noticed a lot of people have left and a lot have become less active. I think the ones who truly have left and become less active have just become busy with life and gradually lost interest in the site resulting in even more less activity from other users due to it being a bit more boring with the interactions and post. I do also think there are a lot of people who claim to leave and come back under different accounts or do the typical announcement of leaving and then coming back a few days later lol.
Overall I have noticed a difference in the site for a while. It’s become a lot less active and more boring but I also think it’s the type of users we have compared to before. They post differently…very few interactive posts like there use to be.
nah those ppl are just dramatic, they need attention from users here so they pretend to leave like nobodys forcing them, personally im less active here bc i grew out of this websites rules, it used to be so much fun before and now its just politics and nudes
It's basically groundhog day every day here. People whining about loneliness, about politics, about perverted men, about being blocked, about catfishes and alt profiles. Over and over and over again.
At some point we outgrow the monotony and seek out more entertaining options, at least on a temporary basis. If there are good movies to watch of if I have the energy to go for a hike, I'd much rather do that than idle around here

But instant-gratification isn't isolated to SW. It's infected most of the internet and has bled over into the real world. People don't really have any patience any more. Our brains just seemed to get conditioned to constant content and tend to lose their vigor when things slow down a bit. Even I've fallen prey to it at times, but thankfully I never seem to get bored. I've always got something else to do.

I don't know why other people leave and I believe there might be many reasons or sub reasons that push someone away. I take long breaks when I begin to notice toxicity from the site seeping into my life. I don't need that and it's healthier for me to leave. Intention is always to go completely but I have come back twice now after long breaks.
Its just people being people...some come and some go....yet some are here to stay. I think that is the norm for most sites be it facebook..twitter..etc. This is just a smaller site and people always like to announce their departures. LOL
I haven't left entirely but haven't been a "regular" for a few years now. I find limiting my time here is beneficial to my well being:) Plus, I have a different schedule now too.

it's just the nature of sites like these. they're less static than life and life evolves constantly. i've witnessed a few mass exoduses here
Not sure people ever truly leave but the place has slowed down and people don't post and much and if there's 20 posts in an hour I'll be lucky if I see 5 of them with this new feed.
So people get bored and start answering posts they don't like that they probably wouldn't of looked twice at before and then we all get fed up with people being d!ck heads on posts so post even less it's like a domino effect. 乂ᴼ ₒ ᴼ乂
@Zonuss It is what it is I mean these sites they ain't as common as they once were either. I remember being on sites like this one a decade ago I'd make one decent comment and I'd get a 100 likes and a massive comment thread out of it and spend the rest of the night answering people on my own comment thread haha, which definitely gives you more incentive to get more involved in the stuff you liked but these sites have dropped off generally like picture/video based sites are a lot more common now as smartphones have become the main tool to browse online.
So I do think this site is quieter now than when I joined 4 years ago but I also think all Q&A type sites are pretty unfashionable now. Like even stuff like Facebook and Twitter the big boys with money who've added picture and video apps have really struggled to keep up and have seen drops in the market in recent years and ok I don't think restricting the feed really helps this ever shrinking market but that is just one of many factors.
I do think the site moving forward probably needs a few new ideas to attract newer non Q&A based users. Better picture and video sharing options as this site is a bit dated now that way. Like if I make a small album with a few pictures from a recent holiday I might not want to share it with all my friends I might just want to share it with a few really good friends so picture sharing on this site has a few smarts like how bigger pictures you can upload but being able to share stuff smoothly is a pain in the ass like I got 4 pictures from my holiday and I only want you to see them well I got to send you a message and add each uploaded holiday pic individually to the message so for all the upload space it's still very clunky like a lot of people now want profile albums you click on and they open up like a picture gallery with all the images in the album rowed up in miniature and you just tick this one, this one, this one and this one, send, and it adds all them pictures highlighted, I mean that on it's own that doesn't sound much but uploading loads of content to SW is no good if you can't just share it in a few seconds.

@AdaXI Well it was definitely quieter this year for the most part. But when COVID hit this place was buzzing with noise. We are one major worldwide 🌍 event from.that happening again. Perhaps with the up and coming in events in 2023 that will definitely be the case once... again.
@Zonuss Yeah very true, I mean I don't think there is no one particular reason why Q&A sites have 'generally' been on the decline but like you say they can quickly pick back up again given the right circumstances. I do think this site maybe just needs a few more smarts to make what it has smoother but I ain't complaining I mean it's free site can't imagine it's an easy site to run really. 乂ᴼ◡ᴼ乂
im only here a few days a week. so, im not here enough to get that bothered by it all. if someone gets on my nerves that bad, i just block em. i dont have much patience for the folks who make 78 different posts every day about politics, regardless of party affiliation. that borders on obsession and its not healthy. the pervs leave me alone because i dont have a vajay, so its easier for me to ignore them. the catfish posing as women dont bother me, cause i dont mess with em. besides, they are so easy to pick out. (sad they dont realize how easy it is to spot em.) LOL i was down your way a few weeks ago, i love it there, but, the traffic there sucks. LOL the place we were staying at had an indoor heated lazy river. you know ya gettin old when you get that excited about an indoor lazy river. LOL
@MayorOfCrushtown Actually there are a few posts that talk about things outside the box. Things outside of the norm. This is why I have been answering people who are not as popular on here lately. They have some interesting stuff out there. Ya just have to look around for it. Thanks for stopping by.
From what I know a lot of people already are dealing with real life stuff (Jobs, Family, Peers, etc) and some have depression and the animosity or carnage here is too much for them so they delete for a 1 or 2 before coming back.
