What would you like to be recognized for at work?
Some back story: My boss asked me to put together a corporate event that involves our entire region. We're supposed to give out awards during the night. There are of course the regular "best" awards, but I want to make this more interesting. I want to avoid doing just the normal/expected awards. So my question is what do you want to be recognized for at work? I can only give out plaques, trophies, etc (I have no control over how each company pays their employees so i cannot give bonuses or anything like that) so what would you want if you were to receive one of these? What would you like to be recognized or acknowledged for?
We're all underappreciated. Do you seek recognition from your superiors and/or coworkers/peers at your work/school/etc? Why or why not?
Recognition such as announcements to your achievements. It could also mean recognizing that you messed up. Very related to reputation. Hello fellow social workers! My organization has asked for feedback on ways I (and the rest of my colleagues) like to be rewarded and recognized for doing well at work. As I'm thinking of ideas I realized I really don't know! So this got me thinking. We all want feedback and love to hear when we have done well. I think as social workers we may be conditioned to NOT ask for this because we are supposed to be selfless helpers. Nah fam, I like a little praise as much as the next person!
So, I'm posing this question to you all just out of curiosity: how do you like to be recognized for something you did well at work? What's your favorite way to get praised? Gift card to a restaurant of my choice, gas card (I work in home hospice), gift card to a service of my choice like oil change, massage, house cleaning, phone call from management to say hi and thank you, a set dollar amount to a CEU event.
