Can a man and woman just be friends?

How does that work?

Can you be friends with someone you don't like?

If you like each other, how do you stay friends without catching feelings?

If you already have a partner, why do you need someone else just as a friend?

An excellent question in the end!

That's why I always say to look for a friend in your partner search so as to meet your daily emotional needs on primal basis.

Friendship is the most essential and when found, couples do not need to see outside their bond.

Best.

That’s a weird question. Yes, I can like someone I’m not romantically attracted to. I have male friends who are like brothers to me. And everyone can’t be everything to everybody. I love opera, which my late husband hated, so I occasionally went with a few likeminded friends, one of whom was a platonic male friend. Two of my best friends are a man and his wife, I’m godmother to one of their children. And there’s never been anything inappropriate about it. We’re both Marvel fans, which his wife can’t stand, so I’ve gone to see those movies with him and my godson. I’ve known them now for 23 years.

It works if one still has a child self that does not complicate things.

Otherwise expectations will creep in and sabotage it.

There is always the option of striving to rise above all differences and one's ego and that can't happen without the context that creates challenges.

I have friends that are women and we're just friends. If you're dealing with mature people, it's possible and isn't even difficult. People have a way of letting bs, not just romantic stuff, seep into a relationship and then think friendship with X people is impossible

1. It can work out.
2. Like any other friendship, both paying each other respect and having some sort of shared values.
3. I think it won't be a true friendship if you don't feel sympathies towards each other.
4. There's a huge difference between sympathies, empathies and loving someone romantically, you simply don't go there. It's back to #2, paying each other respect.
5. Having a partner isn't the same as having friends. The romantic aspect isn't included in the friendship. Each friend of ours contributes with something that others won't, that's why it's not unusual to have several friends.

@sally1981 And here I thought it was all part of the friendship 🤷‍♂️😉
sally1981 · 41-45, F
@SalttyDawg It is Friendship and lust.

Sure I have guy friends I don’t feel attracted too. You just treat each other like people.

It is possible. But after having a partner and kids, it becomes little difficult to keep the same old friendship with the person of opposite sex.. Since priorities and responsibilities change

Meh, only on the surface. I can never completely buy it. Give the right circumstance they sure wouldn't be.
Pfuzylogic · M
It takes a bit of practice but you can know those of the opposite sex without feeling the need to lust for them.

Yes but one of them is lowkey not going to like it. Usually the male.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
It depends.
They can sure, but if there's high compatibility and attraction, someone is gonna get feelings.
