Lost a lot. Still in contact with some. Not friends perse but I am the godmother of her child.
It's easy to lose people when you don't want to put the effort to satisfy their need. It's about constantly trying to be there for a person regardless if they satisfy what you yourself need or not. Feed their ego or craving for affection or understanding ot just company, etc, etc.
I got tired of it so I lost friends.
I think the friendship that would pass my standard is not demanding. Friends that are there not to take but to give. And in return, it'd make it easy to show love and care.
When you stop feeding people's ego, they go elsewhere to look for how it can be satisfied.

Still in touch occasionally with my first love but her being on the other side of the world with her children makes regular meaningful communication difficult. I still wish her nothing but happiness. Some years ago I tried to re-establish contact with a childhood friend, but when he started supporting the Catholic Christian Brothers and their discipline - "A good thrashing never did us any harm" - that was that !
I will meet them all again once I travel back to See my little world.
