Do you eat regularly or only when you are hungry?

Is it better to eat on a schedule or only when you're hungry?
I've been trying to eat better and I realized that I get hungry at strange times. I've heard that while eating on a schedule can be good for metabolism, it's not good to eat when not hungry because then you're ignoring the body's 'signals'. I've also heard that it's not good to eat after 8 pm or less than 1.5 hours before bed. If I follow the advice of only eating when hungry, I end up eating between 2-3pm, and then again between 9-10 pm. If I eat on a schedule, I eat at ~11am, ~3pm, and ~7pm with a snack around 9-10 pm but (with the exception of the snack) I won't feel hungry for any of those. Relevant because I haven't eaten since 3 pm because I was tired when I got home at 6 and took a nap instead. I woke up at 10 pm and now I'm hungry. By my calculations, I've eaten 880 calories today and my goal is 1200. How do you start eating only when you’re hungry?
I want to switch to intuitively eating I’m trying to maintain my weight but I’ve recently been eating way too much and I don’t feel good about it. I do have a bit of history of disordered eating habits and I’m trying to do better so how do you start eating only when you’re hungry? I get hunger cues I find that I get them less when I eat “cleaner/healthier” foods like fruits and I get them more when I eat more chips and things like that. Should I eat as soon as I get hungry or wait? And the boredom eating how do you stop that? Also how do you hold yourself over when Joree hungry but you have a meal coming up? I’m not trying or planning cutting out things like chips and sweets out of my diet like I did before I know that I should be able to enjoy them any advice/tips would be appreciated. Is it okay to only eat when you're hungry?
If I don't feel hungry for breakfast, lunch, and only at dinner, is it alright to only eat dinner? Or sometimes when I eat a big dinner the day before, and I don't feel hungry the entire next day, sometimes I don't eat. My weight fluctuates, in November I was 30 pounds overweight, and in January I was only 10 pounds overweight. Now I go in-between 10 and 15 pounds.
Thinking I can lose this last bit by cutting out sugary drinks, and drinking water mainly. Then either only eating 1,500 calories a day. Or only eating when I actually feel hungry. Would of asked this in a fitness sub but got removed and Idk their subreddit rules so figured I'd ask in a place I'm more comfortable in. Btw I'm 22 y/o male almost 23. I'm sitting here at work and I'm hungry. I did not bring food with me because I was supposed to be off at 12:30, but my boss scheduled me until 2 without telling me. I work at a coffee shop so there are lots of cookies and banana loaf and other treats but nothing healthy or low calorie. If I just wait and let myself be hungry until I can go home and eat, will it hurt my weight loss? Cookies and sweets are a slippery slope for me and I don't want to waste my calories on them and risk losing control and eating all the things. Sometimes lunch rolls around and I plan to go eat... But I realize I'm really not even hungry. I think it's best to listen to your body and eat when you are actually hungry but I also know if I don't now it will make me VERY hungry and feel bad later. Sometimes only eating when I feel hungry leaves me at a lot lower calories than even 1200. So just out of curiosity do you prefer to eat when you know you should or only eat when you feel you should? Skipping meals and eat only when hungry?
Most of the day I am not hungry. Should I only eat when i'm hungry and skip breakfast, lunch or dinner if at the time my dad makes them I don't feel hungry cause it might result in me only eating 2 meals a day?

I eat only when I'm hungry. I make my own schedule because I keep odd hours. I don't go by the clock. Unless I have plans to go somewhere. But I eat when I want to and sleep when I want to and I would like to be on my regular scheduled but if I'm not I'm not going to beat myself up over it. Our bodies tell us what we need and so that's why I listen to mine. My weight loss plan is so easy it's not funny. I'm in charge, not food! Haha I have customized my plan according to my needs and it is working perfectly. I'm losing weight and effortlessly. Like this morning I ate breakfast at 1 a.m. and now at 7:03 am, I'm hungry, so I'll be eating again. As long as I eat the right things, no problem! I don't gain. And that's really saying something for me because I have a bad thyroid and slow metabolism. I'm just not going to lock myself in a self-made box because society says we must do something this way or that way. Haha I wish you the best of luck on yours!

Oh u young!

Anyway I've read and heard dozen of theories, a doctor say this the other say that. I'm not a big fan of 'eating' I eat mostly cause my body needs it and I generally don't like eating if it's not lunch/dinner time. I'm a chaotic person so I try to have a schedule in many things I do. Also, many times, especially during summer I don't feel the urge to have a dinner, but if I don't, I'd probably get a headache.
I never used to have a breakfast, just one or many coffee while commuting but recently I started being more regular even on that.

Thank you for BA. 🤗
I don't keep food fasts but yet I need to improve upon my quality of meal intakes.

I eat as per my schedule since some time and not when hungry which needs to be changed. When? I will plan to give it a thought some time.

I eat when I get too weak and dizzy. I can never remember to eat because I don't get hungry anymore.
