Do you believe in global warming? What effect has climate change had in your life?

Of course it’s real but idk how much humans affect it 🤷🏻‍♂️
@zerofuks2give I mean, I don't have any hard data, but I do know there was a guy who was paid by one of the oil companies to find holes in the climate change data in an effort to disprove it so the oil companies could keep doing what they do. He ended up quitting his job after what he found.

Maybe I'll look for the guy later.

@LordShadowfire I’m sure that we have a detrimental impact on the planet, 100%, but to what extent? When our planet has been around billions of years and the only hard data we have is a few hundred years old, it’s irrelevant 🤷🏻‍♂️

@zerofuks2give If you lock everyone in an non airconditioned room and close the windows on a very warm day you can fool a lot of people into believing there is global warming happening in their life time. Of course you can't prove it with actual temperature readings but nevertheless.
@zerofuks2give I was told the impact was something like 90%, and I think I saw somewhere that we had data going back further than that, but I might be dreaming that bit. At any rate, climate change since the industrial revolution has definitely increased.

@zerofuks2give
the only hard data we have is a few hundred years old, it’s irrelevant
Wrong word there. A few hundred years of data is hardly irrelevant.

@Really Compared to billions of years, I’d say it is. Taking a one second sample of a two hour movie wouldn’t give you a very good idea of what the movie was about.
@zerofuks2give I'd say it is, though. Because we've got good data that indicates that there was a huge uptick in the pace of climate change that started with the industrial revolution. Putting a shit ton of carbon dioxide in the air, along with other greenhouse gases, seems to have drastically increased the rate at which the overall global temperature rises.

@zerofuks2give Why would ( how could) anyone 'compare' hundreds of years for which we have hard data, to the billions of years for which we we don't?
zerofuks2give · 41-45, M
@Really exactly 🤦🏼‍♂️ We don’t truly know how fast the earth cools down or warms up, we don’t have that data to compare our data to. @LordShadowfire That’s true but we also had a period of global cooling during the 70s. Did we stop using fossil fuels during that time? Like I said, I’m sure that we contribute to it, but we will never know how much because we don’t have all the data
@zerofuks2give We still have enough data to indicate that if we stop pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, the trend will at least slow down.

@zerofuks2give
we don’t have that data to compare our data to.
Then why did you say
Compared to billions of years, I’d say it is.
Make up your mind?
