What do you say...

It seems to split along British American lines
Yulianna22-25, F
if you think that, you have another think coming...

or, from Amazon, here's your delivery and you have another thing coming...
ozgirl51226-30, F
@Yulianna leaving Amazon out of the discussion 馃檮 ... Think appears to be, to me, the more logical word to fit in there
deadgerbil22-25
I've never seen it as 'think'
ozgirl51226-30, F
@deadgerbil you're from the states?
deadgerbil22-25
@ozgirl512 yup. And I've never heard it despite being kinda familiar with British sayings too. I find the nuances of the English language to be fascinating lol
ozgirl51226-30, F
@deadgerbil true... It's a great little stealer of useful words from other tongue

Interesting https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/usage-another-think-coming-or-another-thing-coming
ozgirl51226-30, F
@WaryWitchWandering yup... Read that earlier...馃
WaryWitchWandering36-40, F
@ozgirl512 I never knew!
ozgirl51226-30, F
@WaryWitchWandering i was thinking about it the other day and decide to look it up... Nice to have your thinking challenged
SunshineGirl36-40, F
I would say "thing", but it's not an expression I use or hear much. "Think" may be a mishearing, but it's one of those variations that actually makes more sense than the original 馃檪
ozgirl51226-30, F
@SunshineGirl funny thing is thing and think in this case are interchangeable... There are interesting reads if you google the expression 馃
Belladonna41-45, F
Thing. And based on the poll, I'm not seeing a split.
ozgirl51226-30, F
@Belladonna which is good...

@ozgirl512 Also, I must say, I've actually heard both... but I like the way "thing" comes out as more of a threat than "think". XD
Adstar56-60, M
People who say think have misheard the saying.. Or their parents misheard it and they have grown up thinking it is the actual saying.. Either way Thing is correct..
ozgirl51226-30, F
@Adstar not really ...
Adstar56-60, M
@ozgirl512 Yes really.. Think does not make any sence in the saying.. Thing does..
Yulianna22-25, F
and, as i am neither British nor American, does my vote count?
TheSirfurryanimalWales61-69, M
@Yulianna what do you think it should be?
Yulianna22-25, F
@TheSirfurryanimalWales what do i thing it should be?
KarenDuponteDurose46-50, F
It's 'thing', as far as I know, over here in good ol' England!!!!
ozgirl51226-30, F
@KarenDuponteDurose I've always seen it logically as think.

Another thing. I've never heard anyone say another think.

ozgirl51226-30, F
@KiwiBird they were Americans, weren't they
KiwiBird36-40, F
@ozgirl512 Judas Priest are an English heavy metal band formed in Birmingham in 1969.
ozgirl51226-30, F
@KiwiBird there goes that theory 馃ぃ
Gangstress41-45, F
Being a brit. We have a lot of accents here. Sometimes word's dont come across the same as other accents.
Could that be it?

I have a northern accent..some people say i miss out words or letters. Its just that i speak to fast for their tiny brain to comprehend
ozgirl51226-30, F
@Gangstress no, it's actually a case of both words are used... You can google it and there's an interesting discussion on it 馃
Gangstress41-45, F

rachelsj22-25, F
