There are unconfirmed reports of the NZ government being taken to the UN over human rights abuses, quoting the forced listening to of Mr Manilow constitutes cruel and unusual punishment.

As I recall, one of the songs they played was [i]I Fought The Law, And The Law Won[/i]. The great irony, of course, was that Noriega was wanted for operating a drug cartel. But his partner had been the CIA as part of the Iran/Contra effort to illegally finance the contras in their battle against the Sandinista government in Nicaragua.

I've fantasized that it would be possible to use directional - parabolic? - devices to blast the truckers' own noise back at them; suitably amplified. If the feedback blew out their speakers, so much the better.
