"The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" (Twilight Zone, 1961)

"The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices - to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own... for the children, and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone."
- Rod Serling, March 1961

Isn't that something? Yep. That's how things get out of hand with paranoid people. I remember that episode. It sure brought back memories. Haha Thanks for that.

@LadyGrace it reminds of our present cautionary tale we met enemy and they’re us.
@Briggett Yes. But what we're supposed to be, you'll see in my next post.

Such pre-wisdom in 1961.

Oh yes I have seen this episode of few times
Profoundly true and ageless wisdom that. 😐

Yeah. 😔 That is an episode that has to come to mind for me, also, many times over the years. Never more so, though, than in the last 11 years.

I couldn't remember the title of it, at first, but found it with an online search. I haven't forgotten it, since.

I saw that when it was first broadcast. I was 11 and never forgot it. And to make it even scarier, I grew up on Maple Street.

@hunkalove I remember it from back then also! I was in grade school too.
I posted this closing soliloquy last year, because it seemed really appropriate.

@bijouxbroussard Very much so.
Psychology is a new age belief. I say it's a weapon. It causes harm.
