@ProfessorPlum77 You are correct. The pacifist Mennonites have a long history of suffering at the hands of others. The ones who went to Russia/Ukraine were often attacked by the Cossacks who raped and killed them.

I did like a scene in the movie, "Witness." Harrison Ford hides out with a Mennonite or Amish family. One day a group of them are being harassed by the "English." Ford settles the score for them, that day.

@ProfessorPlum77 I knew an older Mennonite whose parents moved to Canada from Ukraine. He said that his parents were one of the few Mennonites in a small village that had a gun. The Cossacks would race into town and kill a few and rape a few then race out of town again. The Cossacks never attacked that family. The Cossacks knew they were armed.

@ProfessorPlum77 I don't know if they have any such laws. I know that descendants of that family in Canada all have their rifles well hidden since Canada has tried to take away guns.
