I think she was credited with over 300 kills in the patriotic war as the Russians called it.. Super sniper

@braveheart21 Correct - 309 to be precise including 36 German snipers sent to kill her
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
The Russians were correct in thinking that the women were better snipers... I think because of the brutality of the nazi soldiers towards especially the russian women themselves.... The snipers were used as revenge@Dlrannie

@braveheart21 Russia favoured women snipers because the were more patient than their male colleagues 🙂

The women also had the motive to kill the raping murdering soldiers of the nazi army @Dlrannie

@braveheart21 No shit? Wow! 😳 @Dlrannie Do either of you know a documentary about her or about this topic of female soldiers - with a good focus on the snipers, that I could watch? I feel Netflix really stretches their shit out unnecessarily. I will of course look her up after this.

309 soldiers...and she took out 36 snipers sent out to look just for her. This woman was a Terminator.

@SW-User I personally haven’t seen a documentary about her although I assume there must be. Google has good information on her and many other female Snipers like Roza Shanina, Nina Petrova and Nina Lobkovskya who at 20 years old who led a company of 100 female snipers in to the battle of Berlin

@Dlrannie Those sound like some really amazing stories. I bet there's stuff on YT. I will look next time I'm on there. 😊

@SW-User Around a million women served in the Soviet military during WW2. They served as fighter and bomber pilots, machine gunners, battlefield medics, anti aircraft gunners, tank commanders and crew - basically every sector of the military.

She was highlighted in a programme on sky history i think but it was not a full lenghth segment... Jyst a little bit about the struggle of the Russian people in the Great Patriotic War... @SW-User

@braveheart21 Thank you. I have also just noticed this: Clearly, Sniper Wolf in MGS must be based on/inspired by her. Must be...has to be! Unless her story was not as widely known before 1998 [or before, seeing as how the game was released that year and would have been in development for quite some time before that].

I'll probably be looking for books on this sort of thing as well. I prefer non-fiction to fiction these days, generally speaking.
