“The Painted Bird” by Jerzy Kosinski. It’s about a young Jewish boy wandering Central Europe during WWII.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@redredred Sadly, it was plagiarized from someone else's book and other parts made up. Not at all autobiographical.
redredred · M
@hunkalove and that impacts its emotional effect precisely how?
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@redredred When it was first published it was said to be true. People believed it was based on Kosinski's experiences as a child wandering around Eastern Europe during World War II. Years later, when it was exposed as fiction, it had a big impact on people like me who had believed it was more than just someone trying to make money and be famous.

The Bible. Total bullshit that has hurt this planet and its people for thousands of years.

So speaks the voice of totally ignorance. No doubt you would prefer Mao’s little red book by the man who murdered millions. @hunkalove

Flowers for Algernon. Few books have ever made me cry, and this one brought tears on more than one occasion
