Most times I can…but I’m Asian😊 I can tell usually by their facial features and the way they dress. I think most Asian people can. I have more difficult time with Southeast Asian people like Indonesian vs Malaysian vs Filipino for example.

It's easy. Get to personally know as many Japanese and Chinese people as possible, and you will very naturally notice the similarities and differences eventually. Same with any other groups.
