Interesting question though
@Carlisle thanks. I love asking questions like these
@Babylon not about polygamy obviously 😪
But just other ways of life and thinking about how other societies function and the contrasts

@Babylon I saw your comments on the pornography. Interesting when we know that countries where it’s banned view it the most and degrade women the most too.
@Carlisle that effect seems quite counterintuitive. I'm not really familiar with societies that banned pornography but for a nation that bans prostitution, pornography makes no sense. Just like how America bans nudity because it's wrong but freely posts nudity online and makes noney off of it. Makes me chuckle sometimes how silly laws are

@Babylon banning stuff doesn’t get rid of it. It just makes the desire for it stronger. Imho
@Carlisle you'll find people who do illegal things for the thrill of it everywhere. Banning things only works for those who trust and obey the lawmakers, but we're human 🤷🏾‍♂️
It may work for some but you'll always see people say the grass is greener on the other side

@Babylon don’t quite understand what you mean by that
@Carlisle when you're kept from something you want by someone else, you seek it more sometimes. To keep people from certain things is the point of laws, but there will always be people who wanted that forbidden thing and think it was a good thing for them, if that makes sense.

Some other people, they trust lawmakers and worship them in a sense. Whatever the lawmaker writes, they take it to be good and abide by it.

We ban lots of bad things but only certain things increase in desire publicly when banned. This is because public opinion on certain things or the zeitgeist may hold something as acceptable, kinda like how drugs have been banned in the U.S. and are sought after even more in America. Driving under the influence was another thing that was banned here for example, but you don't find the majority of people increasing or fighting more to drink and drive as much. Accidents by drunk driving in teens has gone down annually, but everyone likes to drink. It's not that banning it has particularly made it more or less appealing, it's that people don't wanna do it

Hopefully this articulates what I was trying to highlight 😅
That it's dependent on the desires of the people. If they want certain privileges and think it's good, banning them tends to have that inverse effect of increased desire, because they're out of tune with the law

@Babylon I think wanting sex and having sex is a desire that is overly policed in some countries. Human desires are not criminal if they don’t hurt someone.
Anyway I have my opinions which you probably won’t like and I don’t want to get into.
So let’s leave it at that
@Carlisle I actually agree with you with the policing of wanting sex tbh

We'll leave it however you want but I sure hope you are holding back because you think I won't like it 😅
I actually enjoy hearing from others. It's a means for me to think and grow so feel free to share with me if you ever want to. At most, I'll probably get curious and ask for a little detail but it's whatever you're comfy with
