Do you like uniforms? Or should kids be able to wear what they want?

I'm in Germany and go to a private school, so here we have uniforms. I don't mind them, but some rules are weird. 馃ぃ

My children wore their own clothes in primary school but from intermediate age onwards they wore school uniform. In all the high schools I taught or relieved at students wore uniform, except for a couple that allowed the senior year to wear mufti.

School uniform is pretty common is New Zealand. It is positive that gender neutral options are now being introduced to schools. When I started teaching in 1976 the junior boys shorts were designed to be shorter than the older boys. I don't mind a uniform item for the senior year but I don't agree with highlighting the fact that the year 9 and 10 boys are junior to other boys through uniform.

@MrDobson Here in Germany most kids wear their own clothes but I go to boarding school so we wear a uniform with hats and everything. 馃檲
That's weird that the made younger boys shorts shorter. :O Here, we have different colour jumpers for senior and junior year.
