why do muslims receive so much hate?

NickiHijab · F
Politicians needed a justification for war and for over a decade the media drip fed the word Muslim in the same context of terrorism. That's the only exposure people got to Muslims. So by dehumanising them in an excruciatingly long process, it slowly became second nature to see Muslims with reinforced stereotypes who exist as monolothic individuals. This was 100% intentional. It had a purpose and still does.
Anytime a specific group of people are demonised, more times than not there's an ulterior motive that's making a rich man even richer.

As for the masses of regular people, they prefer to ignore or dismiss it because anything that isn't in their frame of experience makes them acknowledge patterns they're uncomfortable addressing.

@NickiHijab What you said is said but true, unfortunately... 😕
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
Because too many people wrongly believe that Muslims are terrorists. The truth of the matter is that most of them are not.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@helenS I've never noticed you not being polite towards everyone. :)
helenS · 36-40, F
@HairbrushDiva Thank you – I may have my moments though... 🌷

@helenS You're welcome. :)

All depends on where you live.. in the middle east Muslims kill Muslims from different beliefs systems.. no one in the world kills more brown people than other brown people. No one killed more Asians than other Asians.. no one kills more white people than other white people. Hate is just a human thing. It isn't that we hate people that are different as such as we just love to hate in general.. and politicians and media and governments and powerful groups around the world who benefit from division and conflict actively create and nurture the environment in which hate thrives. It's time to see past the trees and realize we are in a forest.
Iwillwait · M
Because the practice of hate from their religion is evident. Their religion commands death to all non believers that cannot be converted.
Sharon · F
@Iwillwait
Not in the Bible is there a command to kill someone for not being a follower of Christ.
Try Exodus 22:18
@Sharon As usual, an atheist is more knowledgeable about the Bible than a Bible-thumper.
Sharon · F
@LeopoldBloom Many Atheists were christians - until they read the bible.
Oberon1 · 61-69, M
Because of what they see, hear, and read. Monotheistic religions tend to be targeted because of the behavior of a minority of their adherents, and sensationalism from the media. I used to be really down on Islam until I understood the historical context of what Mohammed dictated in Medina and what he dictated in Mecca. People are people. They are kind, compassionate, hospitable, family oriented, hard working, studious, productive, etc etc, and they are also the opposite of all these things, regardless of their belief systems.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Oberon1 Interesting.Buddha is said to have been on earth approx 500 years before Jesus supposedly was.
Oberon1 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle Well she did a lot of acid. She said that Jesus went to visit Buddha on the wings of a swan.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Oberon1 That will definitely be the acid speaking.

AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@kutee I did not say it was unique to them
I meant their conquests predate oil, American interference , etc..
kutee · T
@AthrillatheHunt yes, but isnt that true of all countries look at the british empire.which was all about stealing resources from other countries
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@kutee they did way more than JUST steal resources .
They gave common language , laws, civil rights, infrastructure, etc..
There is good and bad in us all. Wise men recognize this .
Foxes · F
It's not just Muslims, but religions as a whole. Look at the way Jewish people were/still are treated.
MartinII · 70-79, M
Do they? And some of them - Islamists - give a lot.

Here we go again with the sob story

Because Americans attacked them.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I think Muslims are causing a lot more problems than they receive
And I mean doing things under the guise of their religion
They are almost never called on the lots of heinous shit they do in the name of their creator

911 and extremists. I also don't think alot of people understand Islam because Christianity isn't taken particularly seriously especially here in the UK.
helenS · 36-40, F
I don't think they receive more hate than Christians or Jews.
Religion must be regarded as a source of hate, unfortunately.

Muslims are seen as "foreign" and "other" right off the bat, so that sets them up for it. And the fact is that Muslims have been responsible for a number of attacks in the West in recent decades, which increases the paranoia/hostility around them. In either case it's a result of generalizing.

@Camelia Complicated, but Jews have always been a religious minority which put a target on their back and made them a scapegoat throughout history. The fact that they are often an economically prosperous minority just increases the resentment and suspicion of them. Jews are sometimes conflated with Israel, whose colonial policies increase the hostility from the Arab world.

They are closer to the truth in spiritual ascension for all of humanity as opposed to those who wish to keep everyone divided, sedated and in bondage with an animalistic mind state
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@helenS Christian theology can be summed up as “do unto others “.
I’m not sure how Islamic theology could be summed up, maybe “submission”?
IDK
helenS · 36-40, F
@AthrillatheHunt I think Christian theology can be summed up as "God sacrificed Himself for mankind in the person of His own son. The redeemer IS God."
kutee · T
@AthrillatheHunt christians have to pray to god, we ahve to worship god, surely thats submission
Mostly media coverage of extremists. 9/11 may be a factor now, but a bias has always existed, in the western world, anyway.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
I've never met a bad Muslim. The ones i have met were kind and happy people. Although I do believe Islam is a pile of shite. It's based on Moon worship.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Entwistle Most/all religions are probable a pile of shite...
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@walabby Yes,indeed.

hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@kutee I believe I have read the entire Bible more times than you have gone around the sun. Do you have a point to make? Now would be the time to make it.
