No. I agree with Adogslife. Compound and paint will do the trick. Something I do as well is I use big stretch caulk in the gap. Trowel it smooth then compound sand and paint. Big stretch is a water based product that has extra pliable qualities to it. Any such latex caulking will do. Be sure to get it smooth @Coralmist
