I’m staying at a house that has the smell of dog ingrained in the carpet.

I’m gonna be here for the next few months but the house isn’t mine. I can’t go somewhere else - that’s not an option right now. What can I do about this smell? I’ve tried febreeze and it doesn’t work. I don’t wanna hire a carpet cleaner cause it’s not my house. So far I just threw an additional carpet over it but it still sucks.

You either pay for it to be cleaned or live with it
Sprinkle baking soda onto the carpet
Wait a few hours and vacuum

@JadeLotus I second this.
Damp dog will be ingrained in the carpet the only way is to deep clean. It may take more than one attempt..

As mentioned baking soda is an excellent odor absorber. In addition I would put out small bowls of vinegar. Vinegar also absorbs odors.

Rub a stick of deodorant over it.

Do you rent? Have you mentioned it to the landlord?

I'm with @PrettyFlamingos - cleaning it properly is the only option besides living with the smell

Nothing will ever get the dog smell out. An ozone generator might help, tho.
