All of our families *ultimately* came to the New World from elsewhere (Europe, Africa, Asia).

None of us are native to the Americas. Even the "Native" Americans were the first immigrants, from what is currently known; it seems that the Canadian expression, the "First Nations", conveys that primacy without implying that they were indigenous.

But that's not what an immigrant is. Most americans now are not immigrants. Look it up.@SomeMichGuy

We are all from families which at some time or other came here from elsewhere, whether yesterday, hundreds of years ago, or thousands of years ago.

Well, there are people who are made citizens quite regularly, who ARE. The Afghani people we are taking in are just an obvious example.

But my father's family, my mother's family--at various points in time--emigrated to the US. So *I* am *ultimately* an immigrant, I was not here back to the dim mists of the past.
