I am not sure if I believe in a higher power or not. There is a lot we don't understand about the nature of reality. At this point I'm leaning towards no though. After physical death I believe our meat bodies turn to dust and whatever makes us us, a soul or a consciousness whatever you want to call it, dies with us.

newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
there’s no compelling necessity to postulate any sort of existence after death

Doing so is merely ego

This is life... the one you get. It isn’t a dress rehearsal, so act accordingly.
what happens when we die?
What happened before you were born?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@SnowBlack
evidence for natural provision of extended life
Do you have any?
SnowBlack · 18-21, F
@newjaninev2 That's exactly what theorists do some of the time. They suspect that something should exist because it logically makes sense. They then seek corroborative evidence: raising their speculation from hypothesis to theory.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@SnowBlack Theories aren’t developed from hypotheses. Theories are developed from observations which then become the evidential basis for the theory. The theory is then tested by using hypotheses (if the theory is correct then this should be the case, etc).

Fir both the theory and the resultant hypotheses the aim is to disprove the theory and the hypotheses.

Yes, yet not like most believe. More as a physical aspect of change. There's an intelligence to change unlike any I know of have conceived.

It's mostly something I have gathered from many beliefs including Wicca as well as many others.

It's exactly the same as before you were born, or conceived. Total nonexistence. Belief in a deity is a desperate, futile attempt to believe in fairy tales.
InHeaven · F
But you believe in satan @JonathanC anyway
JonathanC · 61-69, M
@InHeaven Nah, Satan's just wishful thinking. Like Santa Claus. Good for grins. Plus Satan-worshiping ladies are a real hoot, I'll clue ya.
InHeaven · F
Wishful thinking @JonathanC does that mean you wish he was real?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
I certainly do believe in Yahweh. I have had numerous encounters with Him that can not be explained by any other known phenomena.
Ozdharma · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 😆😅🤣

I suspect that there is something beyond our ken out there, but that it bears practically no resemblance to what we learn at Sunday school...
Candie · F
i believe in the holy trinity. i think what happens after we die depends on the person. who's to say there's no such thing as heaven or hell or that there could in fact be more than one heaven or hell. I personally don't believe in hell.
SnowBlack · 18-21, F
I believe that there is a correct belief, and that such a belief IS the higher power.
HellsBelle · 36-40, F
@SnowBlack same
dark548 · M
@SnowBlack What if the correct belief is no belief, nothing, things just exist and that's it?
SnowBlack · 18-21, F
@dark548 Beyond a certain age there's no such thing as having no belief.
ABCDEF7 · M
You don't die, your body dies. And there need not be a god for you to have an existence beyond this body.

@dark548 I love that quote by him

Ya. God Jesus Christ. The best ever God I love Him

@SW-User You confuse not enough options to suit your taste with having expressed an opinion. The two don't equate. You're picking fault without sufficient basis, and likely because you want to start an angry argument.

Our brains work chemically. An endless list of things alters the chemistry. Also about every ten years, every cell in the body has been replaced. Nothing remains but the chemistry that accesses our memory cells.

Most likely we end up as worm food.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@BlueSkyKing I think it's every 7 years every cell has been replaced. Also at any given moment it's 7 years later than it was then..so every moment every cell is changing. Apologies if that sounds pedantic.
Eg the man who walks into the room now isn't the man who left the room 10 mins ago.

No, but I believe in the possibility.
@BananaBrown You matter.
BananaBrown · 41-45, F
@DarkHeaven That’s not even close to true. You’re very much somebody, and you matter to me as well as a lot of other people here. Don’t fool yourself. You’re a treasure✨
And thank you for saying so. A little time away does one good, I think, but nice to be back😊

[c=800000]I believe in beings at different levels of consciousness. Various disembodied spirits.[/c]
I believe beyond the veil is another plane of existence, no sky gods or heaven or hell.
Yeah, but our relationship has been very problematic. It is what it is.

Yes there is a higher power but beyond human interaction
Entwistle · 56-60, M
At death the subtle mind separates from the body. It creates a mental body and wanders in a dreamlike state for 49 days.
Due to desire it takes rebirth and the cycle of life and death begins again. The Buddha said he could find no beginning to this process,however there is a way out.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
