Regarding all these anti maskers and anti vaxers who are now dying from Covid 19

The media is making rather a meal of this. Listing splinter religious leaders who said Jesus would protect them. As well as Freedom lovers who wont be told to mask up and conspiracy theorists who believe everything from Bill Gates microchipping a vaccine, (as if owning you through your computer, phone and smart watch wasnt enough) to Covid being a hoax or to be treated with everything from crystals to Horse de-wormer.
Their dying declarations that they should have been vaccinated, the families setting up of on line begging sites to pay for their bills and the pathetic pictures of them in Hospital beds are all making a splash. And I get it. These people are idiots and this is a public safety warning to others.
But seriously: Some are really revelling in this.. And these are people who are suffering horribly, asphyxiating slowly and painfully..And sometimes dying terrified and alone. Lets not lose our humanity over their stupidity.馃樂

I think masks should be optional personally but encouraged. i dont know how effective the vaccine is at Delta and any new variations but it is restrictive and I think people are fed up and the economy is tanking and people can decide if they want to risk their lives or not. i don't know how it works with the vaccine percentage but pushing to try and get herd immunity seems pretty futile whatever that is. i think refusing hospital care for Covid for the non vaccinated would be fair though. they could seek out holistic doctors right? since thats why they dont want the vaccine in the first place. i mean it stinks cause there's no saying that the vaccine is 100% effective too i guess. man what a shitty situation.

@Candie Couple of things. The economy is not tanking. It's actually growing rapidly and would be moving even faster without people choosing to not get vaccinated. And the vaccine IS effective. Data proves that. And when people want to risk their lives they are ALSO risking the lives of others.
That's the part that doesn't seem to resonate. There's a selfishness at play, by those who love to call themselves "patriots," that is disgusting to many. At least me.

@Ynotisay did you see the article that social security may not be around soon? i didnt read it. wondering if you know anything about it
YnotisayM
@Candie I have seen a couple of those. I think the report was around full funding being depleted in like 15 years or something like that? But that has nothing to do with the economy and has been warned about for quite a while.
CandieF
@Ynotisay well, thats what im basing my opinion on. maybe not tanking for who?
YnotisayM
@Candie The thing is with social security is that it's a pay as you go system. As long as workers/employers pay payroll tax it will never become insolvent. It had built up something like $2 Trillion in reserves but now it's putting out more than it's taking in because of an aging population. SS isn't going anywhere. And in terms of tanking there's just "the economy." It doesn't pick winners and losers. There will always be those.

@Ynotisay my kids are college graduates and one has a good job in her field and still has to rent a room. the other is not doing so well with retail employment working two jobs and barely getting by also renting a room. that to me doesnt sound like a good economy. i dropped out of high school for trade school and had my own apartment way back when. (with one roomate)
YnotisayM
@Candie I understand. But that's not "the economy." And 'way back when' was a whole different game. I'll bet in your 'way back when', like it was with mine, the wealthiest and large corporations were paying significantly more in taxes. That's the key factor to conditions for "regular people." But it doesn't have anything to do with 'the economy.' It's strong right now.

@Ynotisay well im no economics major so...

@Ynotisay Actually, on the subject of the economy you couldnt be more wrong. The US economy certainly looks reasonable from the inside, for some people. But thats all an illusion based on printed money being pumped into an economy.. What it LOOKS like is that the prices of commodities and investments is rising, for no apparent reason. But what is actually happening. (Since money is a store of value) is that the money supply is being diluted and the amount of cash it takes to buy something real. (like a ton of steel or a home) is rising. I can waffle on about this forever. But if you REALLY want an explanation you can understand I recommend you take 20 minutes and watch this. Its NOT optimistic. But it is understandable by most people.
