Coercion - "the practice of persuading someone to do something by using force or threats."

Like jobs saying you will get fired for not getting the vaccine.

Like unemployment denying your claim because "you could have just agreed to the shot".

Like not allowing you into any place of entertainment without a vax card. no gyms, stores, malls, movies, concerts, restaurants.

Like making your insurance premiums go up because you didn't get the shot.

Like my state, who is giving out a vax lottery to entice people to take it.

Like the people who shame, disown, and unfriend you, for you deciding what you want in your OWN body and calling you selfish.

Like those who want hospitals to ignore the unvaxxed.

Sick, unethical, immoral, bullies.

and that's just fact. literal definition of coercion.

and another simple fact, if the vaccine worked, and masks worked, you all have nothing to fear! How can I hurt you?

definition of "vaccine" - A product that stimulates a person's immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease.

not, "oh you can still get sick with the vaccine....just less."

are you serious? I mean are you?

So are you also coerced by hospitals who give you higher rates if you're not insured and/or employers who may fire you for smoking weed off-hours or speaking ill of their products? Genuine question.

@BlueVeins you are correct, that is coercion. except, we know cigarettes kill. more than covid ever could. while it still isnt right, I never expected to defend this kind of platform. so im new to this. i am thinking now....premiums should not be raised based on health. only in america, is it like this. right or wrong? geniune question.

@HellsBelle The US is the only developed country that has a heavily-privatized system. And while our privatized system is unfair to poor people and highly inefficient in general, making people pay more for health insurance if they do unhealthy things is a good way to get them to bear the full cost of their actions. A public sector equivalent to this is a pigouvian tax. But basically, if you don't charge people more money for the increased healthcare they consume, they're essentially pushing part of their consumption cost onto the rest of the population.

This isn't relaly the case with vaccine mandates since few places appear to be instituting a fee for going unvaccinated. But that's probably necessary, unfortunately, since being unvaccinated affects other people's health as well in the grand scheme of things.

@BlueVeins but if a vaccine worked it should NOT affect anything. the unvaccinated can go about their day. they do not harm anyone. because the vaccine should work. and the vaccinated say no, it doesnt, we get sick, just "less". WTF??

@HellsBelle Problem is, the more viruses are able to spread around, the more they can mutate and potentially develope adaptations that allow it to withstand the effects of the vaccine. This has sort of already been happened to a limited extent; while the vaccines are still effective against Delta, they appear to be marginally less effective than they are against Alpha, which matters relatively little in the short term, but doesn't bode well for the long term if we keep this up.
