@JimboSaturn Nice idea but there are other parties involved. Biden can't just dictate terms on the fly with no consequences. If Biden pushes it further there will be retaliation and people will be going home in boxes. The people who are still in country are there because they signed up for this. People who were in the embassy, contractors who literally signed up to keep the lights on as the US pulls out. They were always going to be out last. The last group are people from NGOs that are that special kind of crazy. People like missionaires. And many will refuse to leave or give up their spot for others out of a sense of duty to try and make a difference. And unless the US government starts kidnapping US citizens they can't stop that. The State department started telling people to GTFO back in April. Most of this is all about domestic political optics not facts on the ground.

I don’t like the idea of people left behind at all. However Biden has gotten us into the position of having the military clustered inside the airport with no means of escape except through the air. The Taliban could conceivably just bomb them to death and or shoot down aircraft as they leave. Truly a dire predicament and a situation the teach to avoid at every military academy wordlwide. @JimboSaturn

We can only hope that as many as possible of those that wanted to leave made it and that all the. Ilitary make it home. It is what it is. The end. The end is never wrapped up in a bow or pretty. @JimboSaturn @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

@jackjjackson Nobody is trapped inside the airport. Certainly not the military. Hell even that much is public info. Even Canadian Special Forces have been running in and out of Kabul collecting people.
