I Own and Use Hearing Aids

On Friday I had a appointment with my audiologist. I had to do a hearing assessment since my last one was 6 years ago. The hearing aids I have now will be six years in February 2022. So as I was told by my doctor and other sources usually they should be replaced every five to six years. So I was given the option of rechargeable ones. Which my parents and others think I should have got them so that I could save on buying batteries. But my mind with anxiety was telling me not to get them. Kept thinking of situations that would prevent me from charging. Such as if there was a power outage i wouldn't be able to charge. But my parent said I have a battery pack charger if I need it. But I wouldn't know if it work. If the charging station doesn't work would be another problem. So I decide to stick to battery hearing aids as they have been reliable to me since I've had need hearing aids. I know in the future rechargeable will be the only option but for now I'll stick to what I'm comfortable with. I rely on them so much and the thought of not getting the use out of them worries me. I do have a lot of anxiety part of it is my hearing disability. People don't have the patience with me and it makes me sad that I don't get that type of communication often. Finding a job that accommodates is hard also.
Do you have to 'turn in' the old ones? If not, you could have the savings AND the backup 'just in case' ones.

The rechargeable ones that I use have a charger that keeps its charging capability for a few days in case of travel or power outage. Even if the power is out, I can recharge. Ask about that if you consider rechargeable ones.

the rechargeables are more expensive but worth it
