Yes. I would never recommend my own upbringing to anyone, but it did produce a person who was terrified of making other people angry...so perhaps that makes me more polite, (at times).
I have noticed that kids think nothing of encouraging each other to kill themselves, and some actually do...and their language is beyond disgusting. Their difficulty is their mobile phones, and early and constant exposure to horrifying adult trolls on the internet.
My former church actually recommends not allowing children to watch regular television...because it is a desensitization machine that teaches them the wrong attitudes.
The one time my father told my mother he hated me was when I repeated something I had heard on television...because I thought it was funny. (Wasn't funny to him).
