Advice needed, I have been ostracised by the church and community all because I tried to help a woman in need

I will try to keep the story short, I noticed my beautiful single neighbour leave her house and head into town...I also noticed that she had left her washing on the line. Shortly after it began to rain so I decided to do the neighbourly thing and take in her washing. There was so much of it I could not manage so decided just to gather all the light clothing and take it back to my house to dry. Shortly after my neighbour arrived at my house with a police officer accusing me of being a pervert and stealing her underwear off the line. The police man came in and found the (now dry) clothing under my bed (I had put it there as this was the warmest place in the house). My explanation fell on deaf ears and the community now think I am a pervert. Why is it so hard to be a decent person in today's modern world?

Because its a SKUZZZIE world

Heres a true blue tale: I visited a famous ashram in New Mexico and got lost (as usual) driving into the nearby town so grabbed the first place to crash I ran into, an expensive "bed and breakfast" and was too tired to feel like an ass.

Next day at the ashram I found a guy who wanted to rag off some woman (in this case, me) so instead of him ragging I got a needed escort back to the expensive dive to gather my stuff 4 a stay at the ashram. In exchange 4 being escorted I bought him some food. I considered it a fair trade. Before the day ended and me back to the ashram he was already hitting on another chick...

so I stumbled my way back to the ashram and then moved into the chanting room to harmonize with a monk-in-training who was chanting.

so far so good.

Later I was told I couldn't stay overnight maybe because after entertaining a lady-chaser, and harmonizing in the chapel, I was not clean enough to sleep there. After all I could afford a bed and breakfast.

I was told to go sleep in the state forest about 12 miles away. I knew I'd get lost.

So I dropped off my copy of "Be Here Now" in the communal kitchen, turned on my heel and skulked out of that dump.

Never to return, never to receive an apology or any mercy. Let alone any "quarter".

Neem Karola Baba was the guru of Baba Ram Dass.

Formerly hopmeless people worked there and knew not of Ram Dass or his teacher.

I was trying to improve my situation over an emotionally abusive house in Oklahoma

I learned how BROKEN everything and everyone...is. Grist for the mill. John Barlycorn must die.

And the whole reason I visited was before I left my garret in Oklahoma and hit the road I was UBER- WARMLY invited to visit there and maybe find it was my new "family"

LOL!!!
@Elevatorpitches very interesting. I think ashram work different in another countries. Neem karoli baba was famous in USA.
@littlepuppywantanewlife well he apparantly never made an impression on the workers of HIS OWN ashram

LOL

Love everyone, serve everyone, remember God.
@Elevatorpitches There is a huge system difference. I am not aware how ashrams work in other countries. People who go there never hit or try to flirt.
