I'm pretty sure it's for legal reasons... They would probably get sued if they said "it's likely not a big deal" and it turned to be one of the 0.00001% serious conditions... So they always mention the "worst case scenario", so no one can accuse them of not "warning" people of a possible serious condition...

WebMD is only useful in that it tells you when you need to go to the doctor and when it is NOT an emergency. Blister skin, especially thick or calloused skin, usually puffs away from it's own blood supply and dies. That's just dead skin. If the blister breaks, the dead skin will dry up and can be carefully removed.

@4meAndyou yeah I burnt the end of one finger on a dry cast iron skillet and it turned white on the end.
